BIO

Roy M. Bot, P. Eng., is a principal and president of the Bot Construction Group. Leading with over 35 years of experience in heavy civil construction, Roy provides strategic direction and oversight to the company’s business initiatives, finance and administration functions, equipment resources management to support the successful execution of transportation infrastructure projects and other works. Roy holds a Bachelor of Engineering (Civil) from McMaster University and is a member of Professional Engineers Ontario.

Steve R. Bot, P.Eng., is a principal of the Bot Construction Group. He leads the company’s contracting and strategic partnering initiatives and oversees construction operations management across the Bot organization. He has extensive, hands-on experience in all aspects of the planning and delivery of heavy civil construction services, from pursuit to commissioning, with over 30 years of experience and $4 Billion in successfully completed transportation infrastructure projects and site development works. He holds a Bachelor of Engineering (Civil) from Carleton University and is a licensed member of Professional Engineers Ontario.

Nancy Mercanti is a principal of the Bot Construction Group. She oversees the company’s Human Resources functions, ensuring the alignment of staffing, resourcing and program development with its business objectives and services. She is also responsible for corporate giving and community support activities and is president of the Silvio Bot Charitable Foundation. Nancy holds a BA in Economics from Laurentian University and a Certificate in Executive Leadership, Rotman School of Management, University of Toronto.

Ian Marshall, LLB, provides practical, business-oriented legal support for the company’s business and operations. He has diverse experience in both private and public sector organizations at the senior management level, including transactional and operational roles in the delivery of infrastructure through public-private partnerships. He holds a BA in Economics and Environmental Systems from the University of Toronto and an LLB from Osgoode Hall Law School. Ian is a member of the Ontario Road Builders’ Association (ORBA) Alternative Delivery Committee and the ORBA/Metrolinx Joint Transit Contractors Council.

Scott Riddell, CPA, CA, has overall responsibility for the financial management, analysis and reporting functions of the company. His combined 30 years of practice experience includes work in the construction sector and in public accounting. He holds a BA from McMaster University and an MBA from the Schulich School of Business, York University. He earned his Chartered Accountant designation in 1988 and is a member of the Chartered Professional Accountants of Ontario.

Troy Linton, P. Eng. leads and manages the company’s design-build and alternative financing project pursuits and plays a senior management role on joint venture teams planning and directing the delivery of works underway. His experience in infrastructure project management includes private land development and federal, provincial and municipal infrastructure works, including project manager roles for major highway expansion projects delivered under P3 and traditional contract models. Troy holds a BA Sc., Civil Engineering from the University of Ottawa and is a member of Professional Engineers Ontario.

Jorge Cadete is a senior leader with 25 years of experience in transportation infrastructure construction. As Director, Construction Operations, Jorge plays a key role in the pursuit and delivery of major highway expansions, leading construction operations for P3 delivered works, and he provides strategic management support to project teams delivering works under traditional bid-build contracts in southern Ontario. He holds a BSc. in Engineering (Physics) from McMaster University and Canadian Construction Association Gold Seal Project Manager Certification.

Mike Beatty oversees the company’s Quality, Health, Safety and Environmental Management Program, and brings over 25 years of experience to the development and delivery of systematic management and continuous improvement frameworks for transportation infrastructure construction operations. His work experience, in both the public and private sectors, includes operations management roles on over 75 provincial and municipal projects, including leading operations as Quality Manager and Quality Director on P3 highway construction and light rail transit initiatives. Mike holds a Diploma in Civil Engineering Technology from Cambrian College and is ISO 9001:2015 Lead Auditor Certified.

Dan Campanelli oversees the company’s heavy equipment and vehicle fleet inventory and maintenance operations and manages the allocation of heavy equipment resources to support the company’s construction operations province-wide. He also manages purchasing, warehousing and delivery logistics for tools and materials supply to jobsites. Dan is a licensed mechanic with over 30 years of experience in equipment and supply management.

Guy Lafond is responsible for the company’s estimating functions. He leads the estimating team and oversees project evaluation and bid preparation. Guy has over 15 years of estimating experience in the heavy civil and commercial construction sectors. He holds an A.Sc.T. from Fanshaw College and is a member of the Ontario Association of Certified Engineering Technologists and Technicians.

John Ross, CPA, CMA, is responsible for the accounting and reporting functions of the company. He holds a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting from Lakehead University and earned his Certified Management Accountant designation in 1988. He is a member of the Chartered Professional Accountants of Ontario and the Construction Financial Management Association (CFMA).

Senior Project Manager

Mark DiCarlo is a Senior Project Manager with over 20 years of experience in transportation infrastructure construction, including serving as project lead and construction manager on major provincial highway and arterial road expansions, rails structures, and freeway to freeway interchange projects throughout the GTA.  His recent projects include major expansions along the Queen Elizabeth Way and Highway 403 in Halton/Peel and works for the Highway 407 Phase 1 Expansion.   As a member of the management team, Mark lends his construction planning expertise and insight for innovation to support operational planning company-wide.  Mark holds a B.A. SC, Civil Engineering from the University of Ottawa. He is a Canadian Construction Association Gold Seal Certified Project Manager and member of Professional Engineers Ontario.

Michael McMurray is a Senior Project Manager with over 29 years of experience in heavy civil and transportation infrastructure construction, serving as the project lead and construction manager on design-build and traditional 400-series highway expansions, bridge projects and arterial road works throughout the GTHA.  His recent projects include the Highway 410 widening, Highway400/4th Line overpass, and works for the Highway 407 Phase 1 Expansion.  As a member of the management team, Michael lends his broad knowledge and experience to supporting constructability, schedule and bid reviews.  Michael holds a Construction Engineering Technician Diploma from Mohawk College of Applied Arts and Technology and Canadian Construction Association Gold Seal Project Manager Certification.

Senior Project Manager

Tom Collie is a Senior Project Manager with over 21 years of experience on provincial highway and bridge construction projects, in Central, SouthWest, NorthEast and NorthWest Regions. As construction manager he is responsible for project planning, resourcing and delivery for operations in the northern region. His recent work accomplishments include leading major highway expansion projects on Highways 11, 69 and 17, and leading construction operations for the Nipigon River Bridge, Ontario’s first cable-stayed structure.  As a member of the management team, Tom is recognized for his collaborative, solution-oriented approach and for brining innovations in construction methodology and environmental impact mitigation. Tom holds a Civil Engineering Technology Diploma from Sault College of Applied Arts and Technology and is a member of the Ontario Association of Certified Engineering Technicians and Technologists.

George Dimitropoulos oversees the company’s Health & Safety Program, providing direction and support to project teams in the planning and safe delivery of our operations.  An innovative, certified and results-oriented leader with 15 years of demonstrated progressive excellence in leading quality, safety, health and project management operations, safety program deployment, and safety process re-engineering under ISO 9001, ISO 14001, OSHAS 18001 standards, and IHSA COR Certification.  A certified safety trainer, George holds Occupational Health & Safety Certificate from the University of New BrunswickConstruction Health & Safety Officer Certificate, CHSO, and IHSA COR Auditor certification, and the Canadian Construction Association Safety Gold Seal Certification (GSC).

Paul McCullough manages the survey operations and equipment grade control functions company-wide and oversees survey activities to support quantities measurements and quality standards verification through design and construction.  An expert in conventional and aerial survey technology and related software applications, with over 19 years of experience in all aspects of works for transportation infrastructure projects, Paul leads the integration of advanced survey and modelling technologies for construction operations.  He holds a Diploma in Civil Technology from Mohawk College of Applied Arts and Technology and a Transport Canada Pilot Certificate (RPAS, VLOS – Advanced drone operations).

John Hipwell, Manager, Quality Control, directs the development and delivery of the Quality and Environmental Management Plans for construction operations. A technical standards expert with 25 years of experience in transportation infrastructure construction and aggregate and pre-cast materials manufacturing, John leads and supports our project teams across Ontario in the achievement of quality and environmental protection goals.   He holds a BA in Geography and International Relations, Mohawk College, RCSI certification, Ontario Association of Certified Engineering Technicians and Technologists, and ISO 9001:2015 Lead Auditor certification.

As Manager, Treasury, Financial Planning & Analysis, Sharon Pogany is responsible for the associated financial analysis, cash flow planning and forecasting functions for the Company.  She is a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) with over 15 years of experience in corporate finance and management accounting functions in the construction industry and the retail and software development and services sectors.  Sharon also holds a Bachelor of Arts in Economics, Wilfrid Laurier University, and a Masters of Management & Professional Accounting, University of Toronto.
