Project Superintendent

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead and direct project construction teams and support staff
  • Plan and coordinate the construction schedule and works
  • Oversee the efficient and effective allocation of labour, equipment and engineering needs of the project
  • Ensure all works meet applicable construction standards, schedule completion and other contract requirements
  • Manage the at-construction budget and estimating functions
  • Establish and maintain strong working relationships with project partners and stakeholders
  • Manage/negotiate Change Orders and subcontractor services and materials supply to the project
  • Represent the company in dealings with owners, business partners, agencies and other stakeholders
  • Ensure the health & safety and environmental protection requirements of the project are integrated into construction activities and are adhered to

Skills/Requirements:
  • Minimum 10 years progressive experience in highway/transportation infrastructure construction, with 5 years in a manager/supervisory role
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and direct construction teams, analyse issues and bring innovative solutions to achieving work plan objectives
  • Strong knowledge of applicable standards, means and methods of construction
  • Excellent communication skills
  • CCA Gold Seal Certification; Degree/diploma in civil engineering/civil engineering technology or comparable career experience

Project Coordinator/Engineering

Key Responsibilities:
  • Plan and coordinate at-construction engineering activities, under the direction of the Project Manager/Superintendent
  • Ensure engineering activities comply with contract requirements and support the overall construction schedule
  • Manage related personnel functions and activities
  • Provide technical support for construction works including; constructability reviews, planning and design support, interpretation of drawings, selection of construction methods, document design issues
  • Develop, implement and administer project engineering procedures
  • Represent company at meetings with owners, other agencies and stakeholders, as required
  • Work with all on-site personnel, as required, to identify and resolve issues, ensure quality construction and support the overall project schedule and goals
  • Support and confirm performance of the health & safety and environmental protection requirements of the work

  • Degree/Diploma in civil engineering/civil engineering technology
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD/ related software
  • Demonstrated ability to apply strong engineering skills at the jobsite level

  • Prepare take-offs/calculate materials quantities and mass haul requirements
  • Input design/cost data to estimating software
  • Obtain prices on materials and services from sub-contractors
  • Assist with gathering technical/historical data for estimating
  • Assist with productivity analysis for bid preparation
  • Provide on-going estimating support to projects

  • Familiarity with estimating software (Hard Dollar and Primavera)

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide working lines and elevations to assist with the construction of roads and structures
  • Employ survey techniques to check as-built conditions
  • Perform topographic and cross-section surveys for planning and payment quantities
  • Document survey work
  • Work with Survey Manager and Project Engineer to coordinate survey work with the construction plan

Skills/Requirements:
  • Completion of minimum 2 year technical/survey training program
  • Minimum 3 years experience in construction environment
  • Proficiency in use of Trimble, Topcon, Total Station and GPS equipment
  • Ability to accurately read contract drawings
  • Good communication skills
